As Avionics Manager, you will lead a talented team of avionics engineers while overseeing the design, integration, and certification of mission-critical flight systems that ensure safe and reliable aircraft operations.

Position Summary: As Avionics Manager, you will provide technical and managerial leadership for the avionics engineering team, overseeing flight control systems, navigation equipment, communication systems, and cockpit displays. Working closely with systems engineering, flight test, and certification teams, you will drive avionics architecture decisions while managing complex integration programs. Your responsibilities include leading avionics design and development, coordinating with regulatory authorities, managing supplier relationships, supporting flight test operations, and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of 8-12 avionics engineers across flight controls, navigation, communication, and display systems
  • Oversee avionics system architecture, design, and integration for advanced aircraft platforms and unmanned systems
  • Manage avionics development programs from requirements definition through certification and production
  • Coordinate with FAA, EASA, and other regulatory bodies for avionics certification and airworthiness approval
  • Drive supplier selection, qualification, and management for critical avionics components and subsystems
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, software, systems, and flight test engineering teams
  • Support flight test operations including test planning, data analysis, and issue resolution for avionics systems
  • Establish and maintain avionics design standards, processes, and best practices in accordance with DO-178C and DO-254

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 8+ years of avionics engineering experience with 3+ years in technical leadership or management roles
  • Deep expertise in aircraft avionics systems including flight controls, navigation, communication, and display technologies
  • Strong background in avionics certification processes and regulatory compliance (FAR 23, FAR 25, DO-178C, DO-254)
  • Experience with avionics integration, system testing, and flight test operations
  • Proven track record of managing technical teams and delivering complex avionics programs on schedule
  • Familiarity with modern avionics architectures, including integrated modular avionics (IMA) and software-defined systems
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interface with customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities
