Job Description

The Locksmith installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults. Examines locking mechanism and installs new unit or disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts, or repairs them by filing, drilling, chiseling, and grinding; opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder; or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling. Makes new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine, changes combination by inserting new or repaired tumblers into lock, and establishes keying systems for buildings. Position is located on Ascension Island. This position is contingent based on contract award. This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: + Shall change lock combinations when personnel having access to the combinations no longer have a need to know such combinations. + Shall include installation, repair, rebuild, and service to mechanical or electrical locking devices. + Repairs lock systems without degradation of security and treat any security breach of a lock system as an emergency + Provides 24-hour emergency ingress service for all lock systems. + Makes keys and changes classified container and vault combinations as approved by the Det 2 CC. + Certifies, inspects, and repairs GSA-approved security containers and vaults. + Retrofits security locks of GSA- approved security equipment for all levels of classified information with Government-furnished security locks IAW Fed Spec FF-L-2740B. + Immediately reports any lost or duplicated keys. + Services and provides combination changes in mechanical cipher-type locks, electronic and mechanical locks for vaults, safes, and security cabinets. + Reports any malfunctions or indications of impending failure, as well as any signs of forced entry, lock manipulation, or other signs of abuse. + Responsible for following a comprehensive safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements. + Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas. + Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program. + Responsible for following a comprehensive safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements. + Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas + Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program. + Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools). + Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet. + Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional, and mission requirements. Material & Equipment Directly Used: + Personal computer, laptops, scanners, printers, telephones, 10 key calculators, data devices, and other office related equipment. + Saws, Drills, Hole Cutter, Putty, PPE, Various Power Tools. Working Environment: + The worker is subject to both environmental and weather conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. + Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Physical Activities: + Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: + Must be a US citizen with valid passport and Driver's License + Must be able to obtain a secret clearance and meet pre-deployment and medical requirements. Education / Certifications: + High School Diploma or equivalent required + Shall be GSA certified Experience / Skills: + Minimum of four years of experience as a locksmith + Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. + Knowledge of lock picking devices, code cutting devices, hand/power tools and key machines. + Ability to manage multiple priorities when it comes to making on the spot decisions for security and safety concerns related to the work ordered equipment. + Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. + Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follows safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment We are committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace that values and supports the contributions of each individual.
