About the Opportunity

A leading manufacturer in the Aerospace & Defense sector is seeking a seasoned Quality Engineering Manager to oversee the quality assurance operations at our Hauppauge, NY facility. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance with quality standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining strong customer and supplier relationships. You’ll be working cross-functionally with operations, engineering, procurement, and external partners to ensure our products meet rigorous industry and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the site’s quality function across operations, engineering, and supply chain to ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
• Own and manage all nonconformance, corrective action (CAR), and incident reporting processes.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key customers, ensuring alignment on quality expectations and performance.
• Support the planning and execution of audits, certification processes, and third-party inspections.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to address product and process issues, implement preventive actions, and resolve quality concerns.
• Support the flow-down of contract and specification requirements, particularly for defense-related projects.
• Drive improvements in document package completion, NDT compliance, and overall inspection readiness.
• Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and RCCA tools to enhance operational quality and supplier performance.
• Facilitate internal training, auditing, and process simplification to support ongoing Total Quality Management (TQM) efforts.
• Partner with DCMAO and other defense stakeholders to support contractual quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a quality leadership role within a manufacturing or aerospace/defense environment.
• In-depth understanding of ISO 9001, AS9100, MIL-SPECs, and FAR/DFARS flow-down requirements.
• Proven experience working with government and defense quality systems and inspectors.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with a hands-on approach to solving problems.
• Formal training in Six Sigma, RCCA, and Lean Manufacturing preferred.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, quality plans, and inspection criteria.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen (to comply with DOD export control requirements).
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
