The selected candidate must provide their own Safety shoes (steel-toed boots), other PPE will be provided.
This position requires forklift experience, forklift certification is highly preferred
SUMMARY
This is an opportunity to work with an experienced group of positive people, working together to ensure GAF's commercial roofing systems arrive on time, when needed. The Warehouse Associate reports to the Supply Chain Manager in a busy, team-oriented environment. The Warehouse Associate must be familiar with all areas of the forklift driving procedures for safely loading and unloading trucks to maintain efficient, safe operations. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for accurate, efficient order picking, order verification and loading of customer or carriers' vehicles in a safe manner. consistently.
SCHEDULE
The Warehouse Associate will be scheduled for day shifts, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary, based on customer needs and truck availability. Successful candidates for this dynamic role must be able to work extended hours when needed, past the regularly scheduled shift. Occasional holidays and weekends may be scheduled.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required
Minimum 3 years' experience in a fast paced, logistics manufacturing environment
Experience supporting logistics, customer care and business goals
Forklift certified highly preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ensures compliance with all plant EHS standards and procedures
Responsible for working safely and reporting all incidents
Practices Incident and accident prevention, demonstrating safe behavior in all activities
Obtains and maintains fork-truck certification by attending in-house training, and completes daily forklift check sheets
Works safely, ensuring housekeeping in his/her work areas a priority at all times
Prioritizes work assignments by meeting with Shipping Lead every morning and throughout the day Drives the forklift safely through the warehouse, mindful of pedestrian traffic at all times
Participate in Cycle Counting events when needed, able to adjust schedule to meet inventory deadlines
Ships according to FIFO principles on all items in the warehouse to ensure shelf-life efficacy
Prepares product for shipping by reviewing the packing slip, hand picking the product and assembling the pallet
Arranges pallets on flatbeds according to weight restrictions and driver input when loading
Ensures correct product delivery by reviewing packing slip and product on truck
Stretch wraps accessory pallets by placing pallets on turntable, adjusting height and tension
Verifies product quantity for shipment and receiving by counting and signing Picking Slip and Bill of Lading Learns safety hazards and job procedures by reading and understanding job safety analysis (JSA) Learns software programs by reading and understanding manuals and procedures
Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating to Supply Chain Manager Works safely when loading and unloading van trailers; uses dock locks and chocks to hold trailer steady when going in and out
Learns hazardous material safety for spills and transporting material; earns HAZMAT certification and keeps current
Obtains and maintains forklift certification by attending in house training
Trouble shoots and communicates any work related issues with Supply Chain Manager and/or Maintenance if needed
Performs other duties as instructed by the Supply Chain Manager
Daily review of email and department communication; maintains a good attendance record
Maintains a positive working relationship with all plant employees and other business contacts
Uses process improvement tools to drive continuous improvement of the plant and business processes
Follow and document Hazardous Materials Transportation Guidelines for all shipments
Observe what needs to be done and takes initiative to perform this work
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Ability to troubleshoot and solve logistics, carrier and customer challenges Advanced proficiency in Google Suite
Familiar with standard warehouse concepts, practices and procedures Experience in fast-paced warehouse environment and safe forklift operation
