Frances Harvey is a boutique interior design studio based in Austin, TX. We are a small team that is gritty and communicative, fostering a collaborative team environment, while delivering exceptional design solutions to our clients.

Role & Purpose

The Design Studio Assistant plays a vital role in supporting both design projects, and studio operations. This dynamic position requires someone who can seamlessly transition between creative tasks and administrative responsibilities while maintaining organization and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is a proactive, creative, self-motivated individual with excellent collaborative and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Design Support

• Contribute to concept development and material selection
• Assist with formal requests such as RQFs, formal quotes, and CFAs, streamlining the design process.
• Handle sourcing tasks, including research, procurement, and coordination for furniture, rugs, accessories, and custom designs across all FF&E categories.
• Support construction document preparation, including drafting interior elevations, FF&E specifications, and assist with interior design elements for client presentations and builder specifications.
• Assist with construction administration (reviewing shop drawings, materials, strike-offs, CFAs), and provide on-site support and installation coordination as needed.
• Oversee the design library, ensuring materials and resources are up-to-date and accessible.

Studio Support

• Maintain project management systems and documentation, and prepare weekly project status updates.
• Organize and prepare for client and team meetings.
• Assist with general studio operations including errands, storage management, and sample coordination.
• Create and maintain project documentation including tear sheets, spec books, and installation kits.
• Support marketing efforts including social media content creation.

Qualifications & Skills

• 1-2 years of experience in residential interior design or related field
• Proficiency in industry software: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and related software
• Strong organizational, time management skills, and multitasking capabilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Collaborative mindset with ability to work across all organizational levels
• Demonstrated work ethic, honesty, and reliability
• Adaptability and composure under pressure
• Reliable transportation required
